Questism
Questism is a pretty underrated webtoon made by PTJ. This story follows Suhyeon Kim, someone who hates school, and the dislike is mutual. Every day he faces relentless bullying from his classmates, leading him to wish his life was more like the RPG quest games he plays. Suhyeon’s wish is granted when a quest prompt pops up in real life with an easy quest and an enticing reward. With nothing to lose he takes the chance, and one quest soon leads to another. As the stakes get higher and the rewards get bigger, Suhyeon soon finds he’s gone from being an ostracised nobody to the top of the school.
This story takes place in Gangbuk. I really love this story as it isn't shy to make references with other works of PTJ. The reason why Questism actually started in the first place was because Johan Seong, from Lookism, actually gave up on his crew, God Dog, which took place in Gangbuk. Now, Gangbuk was split up into 4 parts. North, South,East and West.
While reading, my favourite parts were when we got to see references from other webtoons, also from PTJ. The crossovers are one of the many reasons why I love Questism. Since most of PTJ’s work is connected… we get to make the proper timeline and figure out when each story is connected to the other.
Questism is what I’d like to think, a story that is very heartfelt. The characters have this state they must reach to get stronger, and I think it correlates with real life. Look at Seok Kang for example, he had felt inferior towards his opponents, causing his potential to rise, thus getting stronger. Although I despise Seok Kang with my whole heart, he is extremely relatable to me.
PTJ had done such beautiful work in capturing the audience's attention not only at the action packed fights, but also in how the characters act and think.
